Half-Way Tree flood relief - the Riverside settlement

After the flood, families in the Riverside settlement need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

Half-Way Tree
The flood hit the Riverside settlement on 28 June. My home was one of 88 damaged, and 4 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $2,300 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $590 • Clean water and purification supplies: $300 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $155 • Food parcels for displaced families: $640 • Tools and labor for repairs: $615 Glad we found this place.

Updates from Jamal

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($1,524 in total) the plan for roofing sheets and timber is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 59% now ($1,350). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts.

  3. Quick update: $555 raised so far (24%). I made the first payment toward roofing sheets and timber. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
