Githinji's thyroid cancer treatment fund
Githinji is facing thyroid cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Githinji was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in August. The oncology team at the Nairobi Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 8 weeks.
Githinji is 34, worked as a hairdresser until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Nairobi Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.

• Household costs while unable to work: $280
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $55
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $570
• Transport to the Nairobi Oncology Institute: $145
