Giovanna was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in April. The oncology team at Bari Cancer Centre has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in June. She will be away from work for about 3 weeks. Giovanna is 34, worked as a farmer until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Bari Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $6,500 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,800 • Scans and lab work: $820 • Transport to Bari Cancer Centre: $390 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $540 • Household costs while unable to work: $950 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
