I make my living with my tuk-tuk. 3 weeks ago the gearbox failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $1,300. Without the vehicle I earn nothing. I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask. I support my two daughters and my mother. Before the breakdown I worked eleven hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next four months if I can just get the vehicle working. I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here. I'll pay the mechanic directly and show you the repaired vehicle in an update. Where the $1,300 goes: • gearbox replacement (parts): $720 • Labor charges: $145 • Road tax and insurance renewal: $280 • Towing and inspection: $155 If you're reading this, thank you.

  2. Small update. $55 so far, I met with the mechanic and confirmed the amounts.

  3. Update from Houston: we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. We're at 4% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  • Hope this works out for you. After 27 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Houston.

    • Gave what I could, wish it was more. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Houston

        • Good luck. I'd happily buy from you once you're back up. I hope July is when things finally get easier. Take care

          • Shared it with a few friends. After 19 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
