Genesis was diagnosed with stomach cancer in July. The oncology team at Townsville University Hospital has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in September. She will be away from work for about 5 weeks.
Genesis is 32, worked as a farmer until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Townsville University Hospital 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $8,800 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,500
• Transport to Townsville University Hospital: $560
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $6,740
