The gas account is 4 months behind. Shanice received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on January unless $250 is paid. She had never been late before my partner leaving the household. Shanice called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $25 first, which isn't available. The household includes an elderly mother, and going through winter without gas isn't safe. Without it we can't refrigerate insulin and food, or keep the house at a safe temperature. Shanice is working on getting back on her feet, and wants to pay it forward once steady. Every dollar goes to the account in Shanice's name; a copy of the paid bill will be shared in the updates. Where the $250 goes: • Electricity arrears: $120 • Reconnection and late fees: $55 • Down payment on a payment plan: $75 Thanks for reading all this. - Beverley
