Hanna was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in July. The surgeon at Gothenburg General Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,550, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $1,100 short. my sister has been in and out of Gothenburg General Hospital since July. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,550 is more than we can find. While we wait, Hanna struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Hanna won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
