Gallbladder removal for Dariusz: covering what insurance won't

Dariusz was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in July. The surgeon at Warsaw University Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,200, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,600 short.
my father has been in and out of Warsaw University Hospital since July. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,200 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Dariusz struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Dariusz won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
