Charlotte was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in January. The surgeon at Los Angeles Regional Medical Center recommended gallbladder removal, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,000, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $6,950 short. my mother has been in and out of Los Angeles Regional Medical Center since January. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Charlotte struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Charlotte won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $6,950 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,700 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $2,100 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $540 • Post-operative medication: $310 • Physiotherapy sessions: $1,000 • Travel and lodging for the family: $300 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people. - Terry

Sure. The biggest one is surgeon and anesthesia fees, $2,700. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Good question.
