Gallbladder removal for Alberto: covering what insurance won't
After a herniated spinal disc, Alberto was cleared for gallbladder removal, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Alberto was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in September. The surgeon at Palmira University Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and He is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,600, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,200 short.
my husband has been in and out of Palmira University Hospital since September. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,600 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Alberto struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Alberto won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
