Ebru, my sister, passed away on 8 September after a short illness. She was 25 years old. She was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance.
The funeral home has given us a quote of $1,100 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 22 September.
I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Ebru to have a dignified farewell.
Any help at all means a lot, and so do your prayers.
Anything left over after the funeral will be donated to the Istanbul hospice.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Cemetery plot and burial fees: $400
• Transport of the deceased: $85
• Funeral home services and casket: $615
