Gbenga, my father, passed away on 31 July after a sudden heart attack. He was 49 years old. He was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance. The funeral home has given us a quote of $550 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 4 August. I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Gbenga to have a dignified farewell. Any help at all means a lot, and so do your prayers. Anything left over after the funeral will be donated to a neighborhood youth program. Where the $550 goes: • Funeral home services and casket: $340 • Cemetery plot and burial fees: $155 • Transport of the deceased: $25 • Memorial gathering for the family: $30 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in construction myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Thinking of Onitsha.

    • this could happen to any of us. My neighbor in Manchester donated after I showed her your page. All the best.

      • praying for you, Olumide. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes.
