Fumiko was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in August. The surgeon at Setagaya Regional Medical Center recommended spinal decompression surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,400, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $2,650 short.
my sister has been in and out of Setagaya Regional Medical Center since August. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,400 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Fumiko struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Fumiko won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
