I'm writing for my neighbor Craig, who's 86. Craig lives alone in Birmingham, and lost a spouse of many years last year. The nearest family lives 407 kilometers away. Craig loves crossword puzzles, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Saturday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
