Friendly visitor needed for a 92-year-old neighbor in Sylhet

An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that's all Shefali is asking for.

I'm writing for my neighbor Shefali, who's 92. Shefali lives alone in Sylhet, and lost a son last year. The nearest family lives on the other side of the country. Shefali loves gardening, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Friday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

  • Keep going. Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Blessings

          • Keep going, Tanvir. Shared this with my family. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
