Freedom Park needs a playground - Colm's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Cork are raising $800 for a playground at Freedom Park.
Anywhere in the world572 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Freedom Park, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $800.
It will serve about 582 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $800 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $360
• Permits and inspections: $310
• Tools hire and delivery: $130
Thank you so much.

Wishing you the best, Colm. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I have a 9 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Cork.
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Colm?
Thank you. If you're in Cork I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. It helps to be asked.
Great idea, hope you get there. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Tarkwa.
Thinking of you and your family, Colm. Looking forward to the next update. After 28 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.
