I live with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. My occupational therapist at Dar es Salaam General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $800. My current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 5 weeks. With the right equipment I could speak with the people around her. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $800 goes: • stair-climbing aid: $700 • Fitting and training sessions: $35 • Delivery and set-up: $25 • First-year servicing plan: $40 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
