The flood hit the Hillcrest settlement on 15 December. My home was one of 46 damaged, and 12 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $700 goes: • Clean water and purification supplies: $220 • Tools and labor for repairs: $340 • Food parcels for displaced families: $140 Thanks for being kind about this. - Kagiso

  • Thanks for sharing this. Hope you get there. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Greetings from Cape Coast!

    • Stay strong. More neighborhoods should do this. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Take care.

      • Wishing you peace, Kagiso. Hope this works out for you. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Greetings from Melbourne
