The flood hit Orchard village on 18 February. My home was one of 14 damaged, and 6 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $1,150 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $540 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $340 • Tools and labor for repairs: $270 Thanks for being kind about this.

  • it takes guts to ask. Well done. I have a 12 year old who wants to send good wishes too.

    • hope it all works out. Looking forward to the next update. After 23 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

      • You're not alone. Shared it with a few friends. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from Jaffna

        • Take care. Looking forward to the next update. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Blessings.

          • thinking of you, Julieta. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Put this on a community board in Aurangabad this morning. Love from Aurangabad.

Thinking of you and your family, Julieta. Your post was clear and honest. We're a small family in Pune but we're thinking of you. Thinking of Monterrey

              • Thinking of you and your family. Hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.

                • Keep going. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
