Flood in Kisumu: help the Northside settlement rebuild

Neighbors in the Northside settlement are rebuilding after the flood; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

Kisumu
The flood hit the Northside settlement on 16 June. My home was one of 38 damaged, and 11 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $750 goes: • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $175 • Roofing sheets and timber: $410 • Tools and labor for repairs: $165 Thanks for being kind about this. - Mwende

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Mwende.

It's all in the list in the story. bedding, blankets and mattresses is the big one at $175, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Ask me anything else.
