Flood in Jakarta Selatan: help the Orchard district rebuild
After the flood, families in the Orchard district need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.
🇮🇩 Indonesia1,175 views
The flood hit the Orchard district on 2 August. My home was one of 52 damaged, and 7 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $500 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $340
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $65
• Clean water and purification supplies: $95
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

sending strength, Kirana. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. All the best.
Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Jakarta Selatan
Thank you. If you're in Jakarta Selatan I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Good question.
Thanks for sharing this, Kirana. I hope things turn around soon. My husband and I read this together.
