Flood in Belo Horizonte: help the Eastgate settlement rebuild
Neighbors in the Eastgate settlement are rebuilding after the flood; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The flood hit the Eastgate settlement on 1 January. My home was one of 66 damaged, and 4 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $2,800 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $1,200
• Clean water and purification supplies: $230
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $460
• Food parcels for displaced families: $270
• Tools and labor for repairs: $640
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Shared this with my family. I'll check back for the next update. Thinking of Belo Horizonte.
Keep going, Edilene. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
rooting for you. This could happen to any of us. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. God bless.
Wishing you the best. Hope you get there. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Greetings from San Sebastián.
hope you get there. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Thinking of Belo Horizonte.
Hope it all works out. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Put this on a community board in Saket this morning.
