Mukono
David was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in April. The oncology team at the Mukono Oncology Institute has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in July. He will be away from work for about 5 weeks. David is 55, worked as a farmer until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Mukono Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,150 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $640 • Scans and lab work: $185 • Transport to the Mukono Oncology Institute: $85 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $60 • Household costs while unable to work: $180 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Updates from Salim

  1. Quick update: $1,008 raised so far (88%). I met with the treatment center and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Update from Mukono: the first invoice got paid this week. We're at 56% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. Update from Mukono: I made the first payment toward transport to the Mukono Oncology Institute. We're at 42% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
