Addison is facing thyroid cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In June I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. My oncology team at Leicester University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in September. I was told to expect about 3 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 56, I worked as a tailor until June, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Leicester University Hospital 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $8,600 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,500
• Scans and lab work: $800
• Transport to Leicester University Hospital: $420
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $370
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,510
