Fighting stage 2 breast cancer: help Rakesh afford treatment in Bronx
Supporting Rakesh through stage 2 breast cancer: medication, transport to Bronx Regional Medical Center, and living costs while He cannot work.
Anywhere in the world1,017 views
Rakesh was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in June. The oncology team at Bronx Regional Medical Center has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in September. He will be away from work for about 3 weeks.
Rakesh is 48, worked as a bus conductor until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Bronx Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $6,800 goes:
• Transport to Bronx Regional Medical Center: $1,100
• Scans and lab work: $1,600
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,200
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $900
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Sending strength, Prakash. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. After 8 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care
Sending good thoughts, Prakash. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick.
take care, Prakash. Hope the doctors have good news. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
Hang in there. Your post was clear and honest. Love from Cairo!
