Fighting stage 2 breast cancer: help Ella afford treatment in Savannah

Ella is facing stage 2 breast cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Ella was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in April. The oncology team at Savannah Regional Medical Center has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in June. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks. Ella is 46, worked as a bus conductor until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Savannah Regional Medical Center 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $11,350 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $7,500 • Scans and lab work: $1,300 • Transport to Savannah Regional Medical Center: $900 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $480 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,170 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Carter

  2. We're at 4% thanks to 14 of you. I met with the treatment center and confirmed the amounts. More news soon.
