Fighting stage 2 breast cancer: help Carlos afford treatment in Niterói
12 rounds of treatment are planned at Niterói University Hospital; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

In July I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. My oncology team at Niterói University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in September. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 39, I worked as a bakery worker until July, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Niterói University Hospital 3 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $2,800 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $490
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,100
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $210
Thanks for being kind about this.

Wishing you peace. Hope this works out for you. After 7 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Grenoble.
Hope the doctors have good news. Love from Baton Rouge.
Stay strong, Carlos. Shared it with a few friends. Thinking of Niterói.
