Fighting stage 2 breast cancer: help Beth afford treatment in Melbourne
10 rounds of treatment are planned at Melbourne Cancer Centre; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

In December I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. My oncology team at Melbourne Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in February. I was told to expect about 3 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 47, I worked as a farmer until December, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Melbourne Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $4,000 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $560
• Scans and lab work: $690
• Transport to Melbourne Cancer Centre: $830
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,920
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
