Samir was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in May. The oncology team at Mansoura Regional Medical Center has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in August. He will be away from work for about 8 weeks. Samir is 25, worked as a tailor until May, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Mansoura Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,200 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $420 • Scans and lab work: $200 • Transport to Mansoura Regional Medical Center: $135 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $90 • Household costs while unable to work: $355 Thank you for reading my story.

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Samir.

    • Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. chemotherapy and medication not covered comes first ($420) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Happy to explain more.

  • You're not alone, Layla. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 16 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Austin

    • Shared this with my family. After 15 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Montego Bay.

      • Is there anything that isn't money that would help Samir?

        • Thank you. If you're in Mansoura I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks, that means a lot.

      • A colleague of mine might know someone for this in Dakahlia. I'll ask around and let you know

Hope things get better soon. This could happen to any of us. Sent it to 10 people at work. Greetings from Accra

          • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Mansoura.
