In August I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. My oncology team at Sapporo University Hospital has planned 10 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in November. I was told to expect about 7 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 58, I worked as a tailor until August, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Sapporo University Hospital 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $7,250 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $690 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $4,000 • Scans and lab work: $1,400 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,160 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

    • Sure. The biggest one is nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team, $690. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Happy to explain more.
