Elijah was diagnosed with kidney cancer in August. The oncology team at Springfield Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 10 weeks. Elijah is 42, worked as a bus conductor until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Springfield Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $5,200 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $1,500 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $800 • Transport to Springfield Cancer Centre: $1,100 • Scans and lab work: $1,800 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

  • This could happen to any of us. Wish I lived closer to Kingston so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Springfield.
