Vancouver
Bo was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in November. The oncology team at the Vancouver Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in February. She will be away from work for about 5 weeks. Bo is 36, worked as a primary school teacher until November, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Vancouver Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $7,150 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,550 • Scans and lab work: $1,200 • Transport to the Vancouver Oncology Institute: $820 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $460 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,120 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Tian

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. chemotherapy and medication not covered comes first ($3,550) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks, that means a lot.

  • Wishing you peace, Tian. Shared it with a few friends. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Blessings

    • Wishing you peace. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Take care

      • stay strong, Tian. Get well soon. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust

        • Sending love, Tian. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. It's not much but it's yours. All the best

          • stay strong, Tian. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings.
