Louisville
Maverick was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in November. The oncology team at Louisville University Hospital has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in March. He will be away from work for about 3 weeks. Maverick is 48, worked as a taxi driver until November, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Louisville University Hospital 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $10,000 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $6,250 • Scans and lab work: $1,650 • Transport to Louisville University Hospital: $790 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $450 • Household costs while unable to work: $860 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Katherine
