Maria is facing acute lymphoblastic leukemia and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Quezon City
Maria was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in April. The oncology team at Quezon City University Hospital has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in July. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Maria is 34, worked as a hairdresser until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Quezon City University Hospital 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,500 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,700 • Scans and lab work: $190 • Transport to Quezon City University Hospital: $195 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $120 • Household costs while unable to work: $295 With deep gratitude, Arnel

      • it takes guts to ask. Well done. After 12 years in construction I know how hard it is to ask for anything.

        • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Quezon City

          • I hope things turn around soon. Put this on a community board in Istanbul this morning
