Douglas was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in August. The oncology team at Vancouver University Hospital has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 5 weeks. Douglas is 29, worked as a hairdresser until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Vancouver University Hospital 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $7,700 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,350 • Scans and lab work: $670 • Transport to Vancouver University Hospital: $1,250 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $890 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,540 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
