In June I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. My oncology team at the Dar es Salaam Oncology Institute has planned 4 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in October. I was told to expect about 3 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 40, I worked as a bank teller until June, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Dar es Salaam Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $650 goes: • Transport to the Dar es Salaam Oncology Institute: $115 • Scans and lab work: $240 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $115 • Household costs while unable to work: $180 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

  • Rooting for you, Amani. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best!
