Taiga was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in October. The oncology team at Tokyo University Hospital has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in January. He will be away from work for about 6 weeks.
Taiga is 26, worked as a bakery worker until October, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Tokyo University Hospital 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $8,700 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,500
• Scans and lab work: $1,200
• Transport to Tokyo University Hospital: $470
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $240
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,290
