Fighting a rare sarcoma: help Richard afford treatment in Accra
12 rounds of treatment are planned at Accra Regional Medical Center; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

In August I was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma. My oncology team at Accra Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in November. I was told to expect about 7 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 56, I worked as a bus conductor until August, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Accra Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $920
• Scans and lab work: $120
• Transport to Accra Regional Medical Center: $55
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $90
• Household costs while unable to work: $265
Glad we found this place.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Sent it to 29 people at work. All the best.
Thanks for sharing this, Richard. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. God bless.
Wishing you peace. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I hope December is when things finally get easier. Love from Charlotte!
Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Bornova!
