Fighting a rare sarcoma: help Marlene afford treatment in Ekurhuleni
Marlene is facing a rare sarcoma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Marlene was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in June. The oncology team at Ekurhuleni Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in August. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks.
Marlene is 45, worked as a taxi driver until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Ekurhuleni Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,850
• Scans and lab work: $260
• Transport to Ekurhuleni Cancer Centre: $170
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $70
• Household costs while unable to work: $650
