Bahir Dar
Konjit was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in March. The oncology team at Bahir Dar Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in June. She will be away from work for about 6 weeks. Konjit is 44, worked as a taxi driver until March, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Bahir Dar Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,750 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,200 • Scans and lab work: $170 • Transport to Bahir Dar Cancer Centre: $110 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $75 • Household costs while unable to work: $195 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

  • Hope it all works out, Abebe. Wishing Konjit a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I went through something like this 8 years ago and strangers helped me out.
