Fighting a rare sarcoma: help Joaquim afford treatment in Caruaru
Joaquim is facing a rare sarcoma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Joaquim was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in May. The oncology team at Caruaru Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in September. He will be away from work for about 4 weeks.
Joaquim is 43, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until May, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Caruaru Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $2,850 goes:
• Transport to Caruaru Cancer Centre: $220
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,400
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $230
