After a car accident that kept me from work for 7 weeks, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Monday a court summons for non-payment was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $3,900. My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave. I have a teenager still in school at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. I have started working weekend shifts, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done. Where the $3,900 goes: • Late fees and court costs: $155 • Rent arrears (2 months): $3,150 • First month of rent as a buffer: $595 Thanks for reading all this. - Fenna

Updates from Fenna

  1. Quick update: $1,780 raised so far (46%). I made the first payment toward first month of rent as a buffer. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($880 in total) I met with the landlord and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
