Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Harvest Pantry every Monday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 18 families, and now we feed 97 each week. Donations have dropped by about 60% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Kyoto market and keep every receipt. Each $25 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $2,250 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,200 • Baby formula and diapers: $420 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $630 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

Updates from Himari

  1. Update from Kyoto: I made the first payment toward rice, beans, flour and oil. We're at 35% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us. - Himari

  • Hope things get better soon, Himari. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.

    • Hope things get better soon. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

          • Keep going, Himari. This could happen to any of us. We're a small family in Kikuyu but we're thinking of you
