Dhaka
Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Thursday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 19 families, and now we feed 86 each week. Donations have dropped by about 58% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Dhaka market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $400 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $210 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $135 • Baby formula and diapers: $40 • Refrigeration and electricity: $15 With deep gratitude, Maliha

Updates from Maliha

  1. Update from Dhaka: the plan for baby formula and diapers is now scheduled. We're at 9% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($10 in total) the plan for fresh vegetables and fruit is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  • Wishing you the best, Maliha. Looking forward to the next update. Greetings from Birmingham

    • Praying for you, Maliha. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

      • Sending good thoughts, Maliha. Shared it with a few friends. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
