Feed 82 families each week at the Sunday Shelf in Bekasi
The the Sunday Shelf pantry in Bekasi is running low just as demand rises; $400 will stock it for 12 weeks.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Saturday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 23 families, and now we feed 82 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 33% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 9 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Bekasi market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $400 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $180
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $125
• Baby formula and diapers: $50
• Refrigeration and electricity: $45
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Bekasi!
hang in there, Iwan. More neighborhoods should do this.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Iwan!
Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) is $180 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. It helps to be asked.
Thinking of you, Iwan. Hope you get there. Put this on a community board in Jakarta this morning. Love from Jakarta
praying for you, Iwan. More neighborhoods should do this. Put this on a community board in London this morning
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'll check back for the next update. Love from Spokane
Sending good thoughts, Iwan. Hope this works out for you. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
