Feed 73 families each week at Community Pantry in Jeddah
The Community Pantry pantry in Jeddah is running low just as demand rises; $1,100 will stock it for 7 weeks.
🇸🇦 Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia2,644 views
Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Friday from the back of a community center. We started with 14 families, and now we feed 73 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 59% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Jeddah market and keep every receipt.
Each $25 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Baby formula and diapers: $350
• Refrigeration and electricity: $220
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $530
With deep gratitude,
Amal

Thanks for sharing this. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Sent it to 30 people at work.
Wishing you the best. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My neighbor in İzmir donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of Jeddah.
