Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Monday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 18 families, and now we feed 63 each week. Donations have dropped by about 35% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Mississauga market and keep every receipt. Each $50 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $3,050 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,750 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $990 • Refrigeration and electricity: $310 Thank you so much.

Updates from Ziad

  1. 58% there. I made the first payment toward refrigeration and electricity. Thank you.

  2. Update from Mississauga: the plan for refrigeration and electricity is now scheduled. We're at 38% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($720 in total) I made the first payment toward rice, beans, flour and oil. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Shared this with my family. After 24 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Please keep us posted. Greetings from Mangaluru.

Thinking of you, Ziad. It takes guts to ask. Well done. It's not much but it's yours. Greetings from León.
