Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Saturday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 26 families, and now we feed 393 each week. Donations have dropped by about 47% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Accra market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $400 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $125 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $130 • Baby formula and diapers: $95 • Refrigeration and electricity: $50 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Papa

    • It's all in the list in the story. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) is the big one at $125, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Ask me anything else.

sending strength, Papa. Great idea, hope you get there

    • Is there anything that isn't money that would help Papa?

      • Thinking of you, Papa. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Accra.

        • you're not alone, Papa. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in.
