Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Monday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 9 families, and now we feed 381 each week. Donations have dropped by about 51% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Johannesburg market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $750 goes: • Refrigeration and electricity: $100 • Baby formula and diapers: $155 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $495 Glad we found this place. - Johan

Updates from Johan

  1. 36% there. I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. Thank you.

  2. Update from Johannesburg: we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. We're at 21% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. Wanted to say thank you properly. 19% funded and I made the first payment toward rice, beans, flour and oil.
