The the Second Helping pantry in Thane is running low just as demand rises; $450 will stock it for 10 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Sunday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 21 families, and now we feed 361 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 40% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Thane market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $450 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $230
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $105
• Baby formula and diapers: $90
• Refrigeration and electricity: $25
